Kennedy was a trooper! She loved riding the shuttle buses and when were took off and landed the plane, she would say "Weeee"! We came prepared with a dvd player with lots of Dora and a bag full of new little toys. About 3 days before we left for our trip Kennedy got a cold - perfect timing, right? Such a bummer.
On the flight from LA to Maui Kennedy was really good until about 2 hours in to the flight when she started to get really cranky and tired and needed a nap. Grammy was able to stand in the back of the plane and get her to sleep. After a nice little nap she was much happier and was able to enjoy her Dora and lnew toys. Of course her cold really kicked into full gear with a runny, runny nose and she started a horrible cough. When we were landing she had a coughing fit that almost caused her to vomit. I felt like mom of the year bringing my sick kid on a plane but she wasn't that bad when we left!
As soon as we landed and got the rental car I got on the phone with Kaiser to get Kennedy in to see a doctor. Thank goodness they had a clinic about 10 minutes from where we are staying and were able to get us in right away. Within 2 hours of landing we were in the doctors office and it turns out she has a nasty cold and an ear infection. With an ear infection that means antibiotics and no going under water for at least the first fours days or so. Not fun!
We are all settling in our hotel with Cathy and Larry and starting to get in to vacation mode. Of course we are worried about Kennedy but she has been a trooper and today she was already a little better then yesterday. This certainly wasn't the start to our vacation we were expecting but it just shows you that with kids, nothing is certain.
Here are a few pics from yesterday and today -
